Gold In California, Soup Burning And Kepler-22b

President James R. Polk confirmed the presence of gold in California on this date in 1848. The Gold Rush peaked in 1852, with $2 billion worth of  the precious metal having been extracted from the earth.

Dr. Warren Garner, director of the burn unit at University of Southern California’s County Hospital in Los Angeles says the hospital sees two or three cases each week, where a styrofoam cup of soup has injured a child.
