A New Orchid, Tracking Ancient Water, “Naneun Ggomsuda” And RIP “Father Dollar Bill”

Botanists have discovered the first known night-flowering orchid.  It is 2 centimeters long, light-green in color and was discovered on the island of New Britain.

The Nubian Aquifer is one of the world’s largest. It stretches across 770,000 square miles of northern Africa, with some parts lying two miles below western Egypt. Because groundwater is becoming an evermore important source of the world’s freshwater supply, understanding how the aquifer behaves will help in the creation of more accurate geological models.

Naneum Ggomsuda” is South Korea’s most popular podcast, with each session drawing more than 2 million downloads. The show is “dedicated” to South Korean President Lee Myung-bak. Translated, the name of the podcast means “I’m A Petty-Minded Creep.”

Rev. Maurice Chase, a Catholic priest known as “Father Dollar Bill” because of his holiday giveaways of $1 bills to the homeless on Skid Row in Los Angeles, died this past Sunday. He was 92.
