The Hits Of Jerry Lieber And Mike Stoller

“Stand By Me,” written by Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller is the fourth most recorded song in the 20th century. If I never hear it again, it’ll be too damn soon!

Leiber and Stoller also penned “Hound Dog” and “Jailhouse Rock,” among countless others. “Hound Dog” was originally written for Willie Mae “Big Mama” Thornton, whose R & B version spent 7 weeks at the top of the charts. The version done by Elivs Presley did not impress the guys at first, but they eventually came around after it sold 7 to 8 million copies.
